LAREDO, Texas – Tuesday night Amarillo Gorillas goalie Shawn Degagne was outstanding as he backstopped his team to a 3-2 shootout win over the Laredo Bucks in front of 5,694 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Gorillas picked up their fifth straight win, amazingly all by the score of 3-2, and ended the Bucks franchise record 12-game home win streak. The Bucks got off to a quick start. Laredo forward Patrik Nilson came into the game leading the CHL in goals, but he turned the tables with a wonderful assist on a backdoor pass to defenseman J.F. David for his third goal of the season at 7:49. Just forty seconds later with the LEC still buzzing the Bucks were at it again. Defenseman Dion Hyman carried into the zone down the left wing. Hyman faked everyone into to thinking he was going to pass then ducked down the goal line and roofed the puck into the top corner of the net stick side on Degagne at 8:29 for his second of the season and a 2-0 Laredo lead. The Gorillas answered late in the period as forward Scott Wray swept in a rebound for a power play goal at 19:05. The goal ended at 101 minute shutout streak by Bucks goalie Marco Emond that dated back to Sunday, November 2nd. The Bucks out shot the Gorillas 16-6 in the frame.

In the second period the Bucks got in penalty trouble and Amarillo capitalized. Gorillas defenseman Tyler Butler blasted home a slap shot from the top of the left circle during a two-man advantage to tie the game 2-2 at 9:48. Amarillo out shot Laredo 17-13 in the period.

Neither team scored in the third period or overtime and the game went to a shootout. Degagne stopped all five shooters for Laredo and Derek Hahn had the only tally in the shootout to win it for the Gorillas. FINAL SCORE Amarillo 3, Laredo 2 in a shootout.

Degagne was outstanding as he stopped 35 of 37 shots and all five in the shootout to improve to 4-3-0. Emond played well stopping 27 of 29 shots and four of five in the shootout, but suffered his first loss of the year to drop to 5-1-0. The Gorillas went 2-3 on the power play while Laredo was 0-3.
