"The Bucks are acutely aware of the needs of some of the less fortunate residents in South Texas," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer. "Everyone can get an early look at the Bucks this year on Sunday, October 15th, by bringing two non perishable food items per person, and also help out there fellow residents of Webb and Zapata County."
The South Texas Food Bank services 14,000 families in the Webb and Zapata County areas. They also assist 5,000 senior citizens in both counties. The South Texas Food Bank is currently suffering from a shortage of food products due the natural disasters last year and also the war in Iraq.
"On behalf of the STFB we appreciate any and all efforts to bring in more food," said South Texas Food Bank Director of Community Relations Richard Noriega. "Currently food donations are desperately needed. We appreciate that the Bucks care enough about their city that they want to help with an event like this. Not only have the Bucks proven they are champions at winning, but they are champions at caring."
