Lapointe Named to 2017 U18 Five Nations Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Stars forward Philippe Lapointe has been named to the U.S. National Under-18 Team for the 2017 Five Nations Tournament beginning Wednesday, Nov. 8 in Hî=A4meenlinna, Finland.
Lapointe, 17, has appeared in eight games with the Stars this season, earning two assists with two penalty minutes. The Hinsdale, Ill. native appeared previously with the NTDP at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August, recording one goal and one assist for two points. He is one of two non-NTDP roster players to make the trip to Finland.
"To be chosen to represent your country is special," said Stars general manager Jon Hull. "We know Philippe will make the most of this opportunity."
The U.S. will open play on Wednesday (Nov. 8) at 8:00 a.m. CT against Switzerland. The tournament will conclude on Sunday (Nov. 12).
The Under-18 Five Nations and Four Nations tournaments are generally held twice a season. The U.S. has placed first in at least one of the two yearly events dating back to the 2007-08 season. Last year, the U.S. won both tournaments.
