Lansing Ignite FC Claims First Capital Cup against Michigan State

LANSING, Mich. - In front of 3,338 fans at Cooley Law School Stadium, Lansing Ignite FC claimed the inaugural Capital Cup, presented by Sparrow, with a 4-0 win over the Michigan State men's soccer program.
Pato Botello-Faz, Selso Saint-Duc, Alex Bruce and Elma Nfor scored the goals for LIFC in the victory.

It was a defensive battle throughout the first half for two teams only separated by 3.4 miles. Both teams had opportunity, but it was Ignite FC that turned defense into offense in the 28th minute, when Botello-Faz picked up a Spartan turnover in the 18-yard box and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner.
Early in the second half, it was Botello-Faz again making an impact on the offensive end. This time, he found Saint-Duc all alone in transition, who was able to take it into the box and score in the 50th minute.
The scoring didn't stop there.
In the 62nd minute, Nfor capitalized on another turnover by the Spartans and had no trouble putting it in the back of the net to go up 3-0.
Finally, in the 88th minute, Bruce gave Ignite FC another goal off a Lewis Jones corner kick to cap the night off and send the fans home happy.
Ignite FC goalkeeper Kyle Ihn had a relatively quiet night. The Spartans had their chances, but Ihn stood strong in goal, making one sensational stop en route to giving LIFC a shutout win.
The Ignite will be back in action on April 26, when they take on Toronto FC II at Cooley Law School Stadium.
