Last Week in Review

The Lansing Ice Nuts had their first non-perfect week last week during which they were handed their only loss of the season by the Northern Michigan Predators on Sunday night at Munn Arena.

Lansing defeated the Motor City Snipers 7-5 on Dec. 30 before shellacking the Ohio Valley Ice Cats 13-0 on New Years Eve. In their only road game of the week, the Ice Nuts traveled to Harbor Springs, MI to defeat the Northern Michigan Predators, 2-1 on Jan. 3.

Nuts Notes

· The Lansing Ice Nuts will have a scheduled 10-day break in action following today's game and will return home action on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 at Munn Arena. Game times are 7:30 PM.

· Sunday night's loss to the Northern Michigan Predators at Munn Arena was the Ice Nuts first loss of the season,

· The Lansing Ice Nuts wish the best two Ethan Burnes and Adam Rivers who accepted offers from EC Dortmund of the German Ober League. Both players are expected to complete their seasons and return to the ice Nuts late in March in time for the playoffs. Both continue to lead the Ice Nuts in goal production with 12 despite their departure.

· Errol McDonald played in his first game with the Columbus Stars of the UHL on Saturday, January 3 after signing a 3-game tryout. In his first two games he was a -1 with two penalty minutes and three shots.

· Dominic Sereno registered his first goal in the IIHL scoring in the second period Sunday night versus Northern Michigan.

· Rostyslav Saglo (5g-17a) has taken over the team scoring lead with 23 points after both picking up an assist against the Northern Michigan Predators Sunday night.

· Mike Budjos leads team defensemen with 8-pts. (goal, 7 assists) after scoring his first professional goal on Sunday night.

· Jon Sereno converted on Lansing's and the IIHL's first ever penalty shot when he beat Atam Barbour in the third period Saturday night versus the Northern Michigan Predators.

· Rick Nichol picked up the first shutout of his professional career with a 13-0 blanking of the Ohio Valley Ice Cats on December 31.

· Adam Rivers recorded Lansing's first ever hat trick scoring three times on December 31 versus Ohio Valley.

· Goaltending tandem Glenn Ridler (8-0-0) and Rick Nichol (3-1-0) have combined for a 2.59 GAA and .919 save percentage in their first 12-games.
