Topeka Pilots News Release
The Topeka Roadrunners are pleased to announce that they have signed a contract extension with Head Coach/GMScott Langer. Langer is entering his eighth season on the bench.
"Signing Scott to a contract extension was a priority for us this summer. As we have integrated our family beliefs and values into the RoadRunners culture, we have found that Scott has very similar beliefs and values. Scott is there day in and day out and has done an outstanding job for us. He truly has become part of our family", said team ownerDon Stone. "We are committed to doing things the right way here, and being able to keep Scott in this position is important to seeing the franchise continue to flourish."
Langer's record speaks for itself, going 266-106-36 in his first seven seasons, a win percentage of .696 and an average 38 wins per season. By comparison, 22 of the 25 other NAHL clubs won less than 38 games in the 2010-11 season. He was acknowledged by the NAHL as General Manager of the Year at the 2009 Banquet of Champions, and in 2010 he was awarded NAHL Head Coach of the Year.
Through it all, he is humble when talking about his personal achievements, preferring instead to talk about the players he's helped move along in their careers. "There's no better feeling in this game, at this level, than to see these young men develop and mature and move on to college. We've helped a lot of players realize their dreams, and that's what it's all about."
Langer and the RoadRunners begin defense of their Presidents Cup (best overall record) and back-to-back NAHL South Division Regular Season titles on September 14 at the Combat/NAHL Showcase Tournament in Blaine. MN, when they face the Fresno Monsters at 8:15 pm. The Showcase games can be viewed on the internet via Fasthockey.
Season tickets are available by calling the Roadrunners Office at 785-286-7825.
