Asheville Altitude News Release

Asheville, N.C., October 31, 2003 - The National Basketball Development League has allocated former UNC-Chapel Hill forward/center Kris Lang to the Asheville Altitude according to an announcement by Chris Alpert, NBDL Director of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel.

At 6-foot-11 and 247 pounds, Lang becomes the Altitudes second and final allocation of the 2003-04 season. UNC-Asheville guard Andre Smith was allocated to Asheville on Oct. 6.

"We are excited to have a North Carolina player in our organization and one that is experienced and skilled," said head coach Joey Meyer. "His recent success at the Wizards' summer league camps, combined with his size and ability makes him a rising candidate for the NBA."

A native of Gastonia, North Carolina, Lang graduated from Hunter Huss High School. A stellar high-school athlete he averaged 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks as a senior. He earned a selection to the McDonald's High School All-Star Game and was named Mr. Basketball in the state by The Charlotte Observer.

From 1998-2002, Lang competed for the Tar Heels, serving as a captain his senior season with former Fayetteville Patriots' guard Jason Capel. A four-year starter, he averaged 10.9 points and 5.3 rebounds in 128 games. As a freshman Lang was selected to the ACC's All-Freshman First Team, becoming one of five UNC players to make the team, and was selected to the College Hoops Insider National All-Freshman Team. Following his college career Lang signed with WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Poland, averaging 9.6 points in 43 games during the 2002-03 season.

"I am excited to be playing for the Asheville Altitude and especially having an opportunity to play closer to home," stated Lang. "To have family and friends see me play again is a great motivation and is beneficial to my game."
