LandSharks Head Coach Optimistic About Upcoming Season

LA, Lake Charles: The Lake Charles LandSharks NIFL football team training camp opened earlier last week at Jim Griffin Field in Westlake with coach Kip Texada excited about the upcoming 2004 season.
"I feel real good about the guys we have out there. Most are returning players so we should still be very strong on both offense and defense. Since most players are returning from last season they already have a good understanding of game rules and what I expect from them," said Texada.
The LandSharks returning veterans include defensive backs Warren St Junious, Corey Stewart and team captain Darnell Lee among many others.
"We feel we have unfinished business that needs to be taken care of...We have always been competitive but our goal is to remain competitive and win the championship. We came real close last season, but close counts in horseshoes not football," said fourth year veteran St Junious.
Although most players are LandShark veterans there will be some new faces on the team. Among the newcomers that will compete for positions include wide receiver Michael Castille.
"I am proud to be apart of the LandSharks organization. The LandSharks have always had a strong team so I hope to help continue the winning tradition by playing hard each night," said rookie Castille.
The LandSharks season begins next Friday night in Waco, TX against the Marshals. The LandSharks first home game is April 3 against the Oklahoma Crude at the Civic Center.
