Landon Leads Way in 11-1 Win

North Augusta, SC - Landon Stephens hit an inside-the-park home run and the Jackets came up with another big offensive performance. Jared Johnson provided four innings, allowing one run, and Augusta won their sixth consecutive game by a final of 11-1.
Columbia has now lost 10 consecutive games. Stephens led the way going 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two home runs.
After Columbia scored first on a wild pitch in the first inning, Bryson Horne tied the game with an RBI single in the home half. With Horne on base, Stephens hit his 19th homer of the year - but in a different way. The ball hit off the wall and caromed all the way from right centerfield to left centerfield. The Jackets led 3-1 after one.
In the third inning, it was Willie Carter's double to make it a 4-1 GreenJackets advantage. Tyler Tolve added to the lead in the 5th inning. His single made it a 5-1 game as it scored Carter.
Kenny Wells came out of the Augusta bullpen throwing darts. He went three scoreless innings. The offense didn't slow down. In the seventh inning, back-to-back triples from Tolve and Christian Robinson made it 7-1 Jackets.
In the 8th inning, the offense poured it on. Four more runs, highlighted by Stephens 20th home run of the year gave the Jackets an 11-1 lead.
Estarlin Rodriguez and James Acuna finished the night by each throwing a scoreless inning. The GreenJackets had 16 hits including three each from Carter, Robinson and Stephens.
NOTES:
Kenny Wells has not allowed a run in his last seven innings.
Landon Stephens is now two home runs back of Juan Carlos Negret for the league lead.
Tyler Tolve went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
