Lancers Sign Veteran John Ball

ROCHESTER, NY- Head Coach Billy Andracki today announced the addition of their new veteran indoor soccer player, John Ball, to the Lancers roster pending league approval.

#80 John Ball- Forward John Ball a native of Newtown, Connecticut, has returned to the Major Indoor Soccer League with the Rochester Lancers.

Indoor Soccer Career: Ball began his indoor soccer career with the Cleveland Crunch of the NPSL. Ball was a 1st Team NPSL All-Rookie selection during the 1996-97 season with the Crunch. Ball played for the Cleveland Crunch and Force from 1996 through 2005. While in Cleveland, Ball would help the team win three division titles and the 1999 NPSL Championship. Ball was also named the 2001 NPSL All-Star Game MVP. Ball scored 168 goals in 280 appearances for Cleveland. Ball would go on to play with the Chicago Storm and the California Cougars of the MISL and most recently he played with the Ohio Vortex of the PASL-Pro league. Ball was a member of the 2004 and 2007 US National Futsal teams.

Outdoor Soccer Career: Ball played his college soccer at Southern Connecticut State where he would win two NCAA Division 2 national titles. Ball would begin his outdoor career with the Connecticut Wolves of the USISL in 1996. He spent the 1997 with the A-League's Carolina Dynamo and the 1998 season with the Staten Island Vipers. In 1999, Ball made his MLS debut with the Chicago Fire where he played in 9 regular season games. In 2000, he played his first of six seasons with the Rochester Rhinos. He moved to the Charleston Battery for the 2001 season, he returned to the Carolina Dynamo for the 2002 season, he spent the 2003 season with the Milwaukee Wave United, and the 2004 season with the Atlanta Silverbacks. In 2005, Ball returned to the Rhinos where he would stay through the 2009 season. Ball ranks in the top 10 all-time in games played, games started, minutes played, points, goals, assists, shots, and fouls in Rhinos regular season history. Ball also ranks in the top 4 all-time in games played, games started, minutes played, shots, and fouls in Rhinos US Open Cup history.

Personal: John is married to his wife Carrie. They have a daughter, Madison, and a son, Jalen. John chose and dedicated his number to new Super Bowl champion Giant's player #80 Victor Cruz.

The next Lancers home match is at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 12, 2012 as they host the Syracuse Silver Knights at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester Community War Memorial. Individual game tickets are still available and start at $10 for adults, and children age 12 and under receive free entry for every regular season home game.
