Lancers Prepare to Kick off Fourth Season

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers will begin their fourth season of play when they kick off their 2014-15 season on Saturday, November 8th against the Detroit Waza Flo. The game, which is scheduled to begin at 7:05 pm at the Melvindale Arena will be the first game for Doug Miller as head coach of the Lancers.
The Lancers will be looking to notch their first opening day win against a Detroit club that opened their season last weekend by defeating the Harrisburg Heat 8-4. Rochester will once again be led offensively by the powerful left foot of Mauricio Salles. Salles, the club's all-time leading scorer returns for his fourth season and is joined by Joey Tavernese who enjoyed a breakout season a year ago with 33 points.
In the midfield, the Lancers return veterans Enrique and Gary Boughton to the lineup. Boughton posted his best season in 2012-13 when he tallied 40 points for the Lancers.
Rochester will also welcome the return of defender and Irondequoit native Jake Schindler to the lineup as well as veteran backliner Edgar Bartolomeu. Also joining the defensive corps is former All-Rookie selection Pedrinho, and newcomers Alex Megson, Jayme Kapinos, and Seamus Sharkey.
In goal, former Detroit Waza goalkeeper Joey Kapinos and Brazilian newcomer Marcelo will protect the net.
The club will be led by former league-MVP Doug Miller, who returns for his fourth season with the Lancers, but first as head coach. He is joined behind the bench by another former Lancer, Rey Martinez.
Current injured players include Carlos Munoz, Elliot Fauske, and Marco Terminesi. These players will not be playing in Saturday's opener.
