Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(SAN JOSE, CA) - Josh Reddick hit a 0-2 fastball over the right field wall in San Jose, a two-run shot that provided all the offence for the Lancaster JetHawks. As it turns out, it was all the offence they needed. Lancaster shuts out the San Jose Giants 2-0 in San Jose Monday night in front of 1,707 at San Jose Municipal Stadium.
Lancaster's win combined with a Lake Elsinore loss puts the JetHawks back into a first place tie with five games remaining in the first half race. Lake Elsinore was down to the Inland Empire 66ers 10-0 in the bottom of the sixth when the JetHawks boarded the bus at the end of the game.
Lancaster got their best pitching performance on the season, as Adam Mills tossed eight innings of scoreless ball. The right hander struck out a season high five batters before turning things over to the pen. T.J. Large came on to close it out in the ninth. A lead off double, followed by a walk to Tyler Graham put two runners aboard with none out for the Giants who threatened for the first time in the night. Matt Downs dropped down a sacrifice bunt, moving runners to second and third for the League's leading hitter Pablo Sandoval. Large struck out Sandoval on a pitch down in the zone and retired Ryan Rohlinger on a fly ball to left for the final out.
Adam Mills earned his seventh win of the season, his eight innings the longest outing from a Lancaster starter on the season. Large earned his team-high eighth save.
Lars Anderson finished the game going 2-for-4 and has now hit in 12 straight for Lancaster.
The JetHawks take to the road for the final road trip of the first-half. The six game road trip continued tonight as the JetHawks play in the second of a three game set vs. the San Jose Giants. Lancaster will send Chris Province (0-0) to the hill against the Giants Henry Sosa (1-1) for the Giants. The game begins at 7 PM.
