Utah Blaze News Release

The Utah Blaze is proud to announce Cole Lambourne of Riverton High School and Lauren Baxter of Timpview High School as this week's winners of the High School Prep "Ironman" Award. Both student-athletes are being recognized for outstanding performances in track and field.

In the Arena Football League, the Ironman Award is given to the player that goes above and beyond to help lead their team to victory in multiple facets of the game.

Lauren Baxter earned first place last year at the Utah 4A State Invitational in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. This year, she has continued to excel by placing first in the Mt. Timpanogos Invitational in the 100 and 200m. Most recently, Baxter placed second during the Arcadia Invitational held in California, running 56.47 in the 400m. As only a junior, Baxter's talent and hard work has great potential to take her far. She won this week's award in a landslide, pulling in 86 percent of the votes.

Cole Lambourne is the defending 5A State champ in the men's 400m, as he holds a personal best time of 48.28 seconds in that event. This past weekend, Lambourne also participated in the Arcadia Invitational, placing fifth in the men's 400m. He is off to a great start and is committed to improving at each invitational to achieve greatness. He won this week's award by earning 53 percent of the votes.

At the end of the school year, a male and female "Ironman Athlete of the Year" will be presented at a 2012 Utah Blaze home game. All award winners receive a certificate of achievement and have their name and picture posted at prepsmag.com, utblaze.com and the official Facebook page of the Utah Blaze.
