MIDDLETON, Wisconsin - Logan Lambdin and the Bloomington Thunder finished the preseason with a 4-2-0 record and put an exclamation point on the end with an 8-2 win over the Madison Capitols Sunday afternoon. Lambdin netted a career high of four goals in the win and Ethan Somoza (Bemidji State University) had a 3-point (2g, 1a) game as well.

Head Coach and General Manager Dennis Williams commented on Lambdin's performance saying, "Logan is a an honest player. He's the kind of guy who competes every day and gets rewarded for his hard work. All of his goals today were in the tough areas. He was at net front, strong on his stick, not getting pushed off pucks and helped lead the way, but I thought today was also a great team effort."

The first period opened with Somoza knocking a rebound into the net and Merl taking the assist on the power play goal. Lambdin would give the Thunder a two-goal lead with under three minutes to play in the period when he ripped a loose puck over the shoulder of goaltender Ryan Edquist (University of Minnesota).

The Capitols answered one minute later with a power play goal of their own. Ryan Lohin's (University of Massachusetts-Lowell) fired a shot that was deflected by Like McElhenie to bring the deficit to just one.

Bloomington poured it on in the second period, but also benefited from two Madison goals being waived off by the officials for kicking and using their glove. The Thunder rolled with goals from Somoza, Sean Harrison (Union College), Alec Mehr, and Lambdin. Somoza's second of the game was again on the power play and gave him three goals in two games. Harrison fired his goal on a two on one at 10:06 of the second just moments after the Thunder went on the power play. The team would finish the night 3-3 on the power play.

Less than a minute later, the Caps made it 4-2 on a bouncing puck that trickled through the pads of goaltender Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota). The goal was awarded to Charlie Parker and was the second power play goal of the game for Madison. Halladay finished the game with 29 saves and the win, while Edquist suffered the loss with 26 stops.

"We really battled back from the goals they scored and in the third were able to keep the pedal down for most of the final 20 minutes," said Coach Williams.

Lambdin concluded his morning with two more goals at 5:13 and 7:24 to finish the scoring in the game. Four players for Bloomington had multi-point games in the win and Lambdin's hat trick was the first in Bloomington Thunder history (pre and post season).

"I'm really excited by the group we have. It helps when you go into the season with a few wins but it would be foolish on our part to think we can go into games and just win them," commented Coach Williams. His team scored six or more goals in three games in the preseason, totaling 28 goals over six games. "We have a very good and talented Waterloo hockey team coming in on Friday that can score in bunches. We need to compete, battle, and score on our opportunities, defend strong, and if we do that it will give us a chance to win."
