Lake Monsters Win Series on Tuesday

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (5-11) managed three runs on seven hits in a 4-3 loss to the Vermont Lake Monsters (9-7) before 1,304 fans at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Tigers scored a run in the first inning. 2B Tyler Hanover (1-4) doubled and scored when LF Danry Vasquez (3-4) singled for a 1-0 Connecticut lead.

The Lake Monsters scored a run in the second inning on a wild pitch from Connecticut RHP Endrys Briceno (0-2). 3B Chad Lewis (3-4) hit a solo home run over the left field wall in the fourth inning to make it 2-1.

1B Jacob Tanis (2-4) hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to score Lewis for a 3-1 Lake Monster advantage.

Connecticut scored a single run in the seventh inning. Vasquez doubled and went to third base on a ground out by 1B Juaner Aguasvivas (0-4). He scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2 Vermont.

Vermont scored a run in the ninth inning on an RBI single by 1B Jacob Tanis (2-4) to make the score 4-2.

Connecticut C Benett Pickar (1-4) lined an RBI single in the ninth inning to score Vasquez and get Connecticut within one run at 4-3.

The Tigers head on the road to the Batavia MuckDogs, the NYPL affiliate of the St.

Louis Cardinals, for 7:05 p.m. game on the 4th of July. RHP Charlie Gillies (0-1, 2.57) gets the start against LHP Tim Cooley (1-0, 1.93) for Batavia. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
