BURLINGTON, VT --- The Vermont Lake Monsters will open the 2011 season on June 17th at Tri-City with the home opener slated for Monday, June 20th against the Lowell Spinners, the team announced today with the release of the full 76-game New York-Penn League schedule.

The 2011 season will be the 18th overall for Vermont and the first season as an Oakland Athletics affiliate for the Lake Monsters, who will play a three-game series August 9-11 at the Auburn Doubledays (now affiliated with the Washington Nationals).

The Lake Monsters will have 10 homestands during the season, including three six-game and three two-game homestands at historic Centennial Field. After a three-game series at Tri-City to open the season, Vermont will play six straight at Centennial against Lowell and Connecticut June 20-25.

Vermont will host the Staten Island Yankees July 9-11 and Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets affiliate) July 30-August 1, while also hosting Lowell (Red Sox affiliate) June 20-22 and July 21-22. The 2011 NY-Penn League game will also be at Lowell on August 16th.

25 of the Lake Monsters 38 home games are scheduled for a Saturday (eight games), Sunday (nine) or Monday (eight). Game times for the 2011 home season will remain the same as last season with 7:05 pm starts Monday through Friday, 6:05 pm on Saturdays and 1:05 pm on Sundays.

One of those 1:05 pm Sunday starts is the first-ever July 3rd home game in Vermont history as the Lake Monsters host the Tri-City ValleyCat at during the afternoon at Centennial before the annual waterfront fireworks show that night in downtown Burlington.

There will be two special game times during the season as Vermont hosts State College on Thursday, August 4th beginning at 11:05 am and then on Sunday, August 28th when the Lake Monsters host Connecticut starting at 6:05 pm.
