Lake Michigan Admirals Take Down Chicago Steam

February 7, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Lake Michigan Admirals News Release

St. Joseph, MI.- The Lake Michigan Admirals are causing waves in the ABA Power Rankings over the last two weekends by beating the undefeated Pittsburgh Phantoms last weekend and by taking down the #2 Chicago Steam Saturday night in front of a crowd of approximately 600 at Lake Michigan Catholic. Some might say the reason for the Admirals' winning streak is because of the players buying into Coach Buck Riley's coaching philosophy and some might say it's because of the new editions to the team. Either way the Admirals are gaining momentum going into the part of the season that counts. By adding another quality point guard in Brandon Ball, a center in 7'3" Jermaine Middleton, and a power forward in Veteran player James Booyer, Glisson might just take home the General Manager of the year award. "I was really pleased in the way our players accepted these new editions to the team. I believe we have a chance to win the division and maybe even the ABA Championship with the quality of players we have in our organization," said GM Chris Glisson. With the buy in from the team's core, six players reached double digits including Odgra Bobo with 23 points and 27 rebounds and Anthony Slater with a triple double with 12 points, 11 steals, and 12 assists. Newcomer Brandon Ball, newly acquired from the PBL's Vermont Frost Heaves on Thursday, had 21 points and 8 assists and more importantly kept Roy Parrin, from the Steam, to only 8 points. Former Houston Rocket Sam Mack only had 13 points for Chicago as well. Final score Lake Michigan Admirals 119 - Chicago Steam 109.
