Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) - An eight-run first inning proved to be more than enough for Lake Elsinore Tuesday night. The Storm jumped out front with eight runs and eight hits in the opening frame, then cruised the rest of the way for a 10-4 win over the JetHawks in the first contest of a three-game series. The loss pushes Lancaster to three games out of first place with only 13 games left in the California League regular season.

Starting pitcher Ross Seaton was knocked out in the first inning by the Storm. Lake Elsinore pounded out five doubles and a bases-loaded triple in the opening inning, part of an eight-hit, eight-run frame that gave the Storm a commanding lead.

The lead grew to 10-1 when Lancaster rallied in the seventh inning. The JetHawks loaded the bases with no one out. Jay Austin and Jose Altuve had back-to-back singles to bring home two runs. Another run scored on a double-play to make it a six-run game, but that was as close as the JetHawks would get.

The JetHawks road trip continues Wednesday night in Lake Elsinore. Robert Donovan (0-2) will pitch for Lancaster against Jeremy McBryde (4-3) of the Storm. The game begins at 6:05 and will be broadcast live online at JetHawks.com/CSN and on radio at NewsTalk 1380. Coverage begins with the Clubhouse Show at 5 PM. Special guests include Hall of Fame outfielder Rickey Henderson, JetHawks Chairman Peter Carfagna, and Astros Scouting Director Bobby Heck.
