
Lake and DeSerres Will Return to Aces for 2016-17

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - The Alaska Aces, proud affiliates of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and AHL's Utica Comets, have signed forward Ben Lake and goaltender Jacob DeSerres to contracts for the 2016-17 season.
Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations Rob Murray made the announcement Wednesday.
Lake, 26, joined the Aces in 2015 after completing his NCAA college eligibility at Sacred Heart University. The 5-11, 175 pound center, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, played in 66 games for the Glacier Blue in 2015-16, scoring 7 goals and dishing 15 assists for 22 points.
"Ben is a good skating tough center who feels he can contribute more on the offensive side of the puck," said Murray. "Look for him to have a big second professional season."
The 26 year old DeSerres, joined the Aces last season after one game with Adirondack and 10 at Colorado. The 6-0, 205 pounder played in 17 games for Alaska, fashioning a 6-8-2 record with a 3.30 GAA and save percentage at 87%. The Calgary, Alberta, Canada native was a 2008 third-round draft pick (#84) of the Philadelphia Flyers and was a Memorial Cup champion in 2011.
"Jacob came to us last season when we were short on goalies, and did a solid job," said Murray. "He'll be working on proving he can be a consistent goaltender this coming season."
Lake and DeSerres join forwards Kenny Babinski, Charlie Sampair and Peter Sivak and defensemen Ryan Trenz, Brandon Martell and Nick Cecere and goaltender Lukas Hafner as announced signings by the Aces for the 2016-17 season.
