The Black & Gold (64 points) can secure the Supporters' Shield for the best record in Major League Soccer with a Philadelphia Union loss to Charlotte FC on Saturday combined with an LAFC win on Sunday.

The Timbers (4-0-1) are unbeaten in their last five games and are also unbeaten in their last six games vs LAFC (3-0-3).

The Timbers currently sit in sixth place in the Western Conference standings with 46 points through 32 games played.

NEWS & NOTES

LAFC clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference as a result of Austin FC's 1-1 draw with Nashville on Saturday Aug. 17. This is the second time in LAFC's five seasons in which they will enter the postseason as the top seed in the West.

LAFC are the first team to register 20 wins this season and this is the second time in LAFC's five-year history that they have won 20 or more games. In 2019, LAFC set a club record with 21 victories.

The 20 wins for head coach Steve Cherundolo match the most for a first-year head coach in MLS history. He joins Bob Bradley (1998 Chicago Fire) and Thomas Rongen (1996 Tampa Bay Mutiny) in having win 20 games in his first season as an MLS head coach.

Cristian Arango has scored 30 MLS goals since his debut in August of last year with 16 of those goals being scored on the road.
