LAFC, Toluca FC Face Rematch in Pivotal Leagues Cup Clash at BMO Stadium on Saturday

Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) continues its Leagues Cup quest with a pivotal match against 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup title winners Toluca FC on Saturday, August 8, at BMO Stadium. Fans will be able to watch the high-stakes clash between two of the continent's best teams beginning at 8:10 p.m. PT on Apple TV, Univision/TUDN, FS1 and TSN (Canada). Local radio coverage will be available on 710 AM ESPN, the ESPN App (English), 980 AM La Mera Mera (Spanish), and 1230 AM K-Radio (Korean).

Saturday's Prime Time showdown in the heart of LA pits the Black & Gold against the same opponent that knocked the team out of this year's Concacaf Champions Cup. The pair met at the continental championship's semifinal stage with LAFC winning 2-1 at home on April 29, only for Toluca to respond with a 4-0 win on its home turf a week later to take the two-game series 5-2 on aggregate and advance to the tournament Final.

The Black & Gold had never met Toluca in official competition before this season but now faces a third match in five months against the team considered to be the region's best the last two years.

LAFC owns a 9W-6L-5D record against Liga MX teams across all competitions since the club began play in 2018 and an 8-2-4 all-time mark in Leagues Cup play against all challengers. For its part, Toluca has earned an 8-1-4 record during its participation in the Leagues Cup, including a 3-0 home win against the Seattle Sounders to begin the current edition of the competition.

Both teams arrive in impressive form. Toluca is 3W-2L-0D in its last five games, while LAFC is an unbeaten 3-0-2 over the same stretch, including a 5-4 win in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes against Chivas Guadalajara on Wednesday night in the teams' 2026 Leagues Cup opener. Black & Gold goalkeeper Thomas Hasal made a crucial save in the sixth round of the shootout to give LAFC the opportunity to earn an extra point in the standings, and 17-year-old Jude Terry converted the deciding penalty to secure two points. In its fourth competitive iteration, the Leagues Cup is comprised of 18 qualified MLS teams and all 18 Liga MX clubs. In addition to Toluca FC and Chivas, LAFC will face Querétaro in Phase One group play on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at BMO Stadium with the aim of qualifying for the Knockout Stage.
