LA KISS Battle the Gladiators for Postseason Positioning
July 14, 2016 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Los Angeles KISS News Release
Although Cleveland quarterback Arvell Nelson threw for 404 yards and scored eight total touchdowns last week, three unanswered scores by Philadelphia to end the first half and start the third quarter was the difference in the Gladiators' 83-62 loss to the Soul.
The LA KISS defensive was dominant last week; they allowed an all-time franchise low 21 points and limited Tampa Bay's offense to just one touchdown in the second half. They will need to continue the effort this week as they faceoff against Cleveland wide receiver, Collin Taylor. Taylor leads all Gladiator receivers with 100 receptions for 1,268 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Last week, in his first start since he suffered an injury in Week 7, quarterback Nathan Stanley shook off the rust and executed remarkably well. He found his favorite receiver, DJ Stephens, eight times for 112 yards and a hat trick of touchdowns. He will be put to the test this week as Cleveland's defense is currently tied for second in the AFL with 18 interceptions. "Captain" Morgan, DJ Stephens and the rest of the LA KISS receivers will need to create space downfield so Stanley can easily drop passes right into their arms.
Well LA KISS Corps, you now know the importance of this game, so you have no excuse not to be loud! If you want to see your 2016 LA KISS Football team back at home again this postseason, we need YOU to be the difference. Yell, be a nuisance and get inside the Gladiators' helmets. If all this doesn't get you fired up for LA KISS football, nothing will!
