LA Galaxy News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Sunday, March 9, 2014) - The LA Galaxy begin their quest for the CONCACAF Champions League crown when they take on Liga MX side Club Tijuana in the first leg of the two match, goal aggregate home-and-home series at StubHub Center on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. PT live on Fox Soccer Plus. All-time the Galaxy is 10-6-3 in CONCACAF Champions League play and 1-1-2 in the quarterfinals of the regional competition.

On Tuesday, March 11 LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena and forward Landon Donovan will be available to media via a press conference in the StubHub Center TV Studio following the training session on the StubHub Center field. The Galaxy will train at 10 a.m. PT on the StubHub Center field with the first 15 minutes open to media for b-roll. Galaxy players will be available following the training session with Arena and Donovan available in a press conference at approximately noon PT.

The quarterfinal match-up is an intriguing one as only 142 miles separates the two Southern California sides. Currently sitting in seventh place in the 2014 Liga MX Clausura, Xolos enter the match with a 4-4-2 record and 14 points after 10 matches. Club Tijuana has lost two of their last four, but enter Wednesday's match coming off a 2-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara at Estadio Caliente.

The Galaxy earned a trip to the knockout stage of the CONCACAF Champions League for the fourth consecutive season claiming the No. 6 seed in the knockout stage as a result of their 4-0 loss to Metapan in October 2013. The loss snapped LA's nine-game unbeaten streak in the Group Stage dating back to Sept. 2011. In that stretch, LA went 8-0-1, outscoring opponents 21-5.

Since first appearing in the Champions League in August 2010, the Galaxy are 1-3-0 against Mexican opposition. The Galaxy saw their bid for the 2013 CONCACAF Champions League come up short as they were defeated by Monterrey 2-1 at StubHub Center April 3, 2013 and 1-0 at Estadio Tecnologico a week later. Monterrey went on to win its third consecutive CONCACAF Champions League.

The Galaxy enter Wednesday's match after losing its opening fixture at home 1-0 to Real Salt Lake. Robbie Keane rang a shot off the post in the first half and Nick Rimando saved a Keane penalty in stoppage time to give the visiting side three points on the night.

The Galaxy will travel to Tijuana to face Xolos in the second leg at Estadio Caliente on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT live on Fox Sports 2.
