Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that center Jeff Kyrzakos has agreed to terms on a contract to return to the club for the 2007-08 ECHL season.

Kyrzakos is the first player to come to terms with the RoadRunners for the upcoming year.

Kyrzakos, 22, tallied 11 goals and 20 points in 64 games and one goal in four postseason games during his first professional season in 2006-07. The second-year pro and native of Mississauga, Ontario finished second among RoadRunners' rookies in goals scored and fourth in total points. He finished the year strong with five goals in the final nine games of the regular season.

"I'm excited to come back to Phoenix and play for (RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations) Brad Church," said Kyrzakos. "We definitely have some unfinished business at hand following our playoff loss to Las Vegas, but I'm looking forward to competing for a championship while at the same time improving as a player."

Kyrzakos signed with the RoadRunners following a breakout season in 2005-06 with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League in which he tallied 33 goals and 79 points in 64 games to finish 22nd overall in the OHL scoring race. Prior to his arrival in Phoenix, Kyrzakos attended training camp with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"I am very excited to have Jeff back with the RoadRunners for the upcoming season," said Church. "I feel Jeff made big strides in his development as a solid two-way player during the second half of last year and into the playoffs. I expect him to continue to develop into a consistent contributor both offensively and defensively."

The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 when they host the Utah Grizzlies to commence their third season in the desert. Information on season tickets, half-season packages, and flex plans for the 2007-08 season of Phoenix RoadRunners Hockey are available by calling (602) 462-GOAL.
