Princeton WhistlePigs News Release

A familiar face will return behind the microphone for the Princeton Rays in 2014 as the team announced on April 17 that Kyle Cooper will be the team's radio play-by-play annoncer.

"I am certainly excited to be broadcasting Princeton Rays games again this summer. The team has great fans that are friendly and always made me feel right at home. I can't wait to get started," said Cooper, who currently resides in the Johnson City, TN area.

This will be Cooper's second stint with the P-Rays as he also broadcast all the happenings of the P-Rays for the five Appalachian League seasons stretching from 2008-2012. The Wisconsin native then spent last summer handling the play-by-play duties for the Missoula (MT) Osprey, an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in the Pioneer League. Also, during Cooper's previous stint in Princeton, he was also the radio play-by-play voice for both the football and basketball teams at Concord University while also serving as the school's Sports Information Director for three years.

"We are certainly happy to have the opportunity again to work with Kyle Cooper. We consider him to be one of the very best radio announcers in minor league baseball. He was an integral part of the Princeton Rays operation for five seasons and to be here for such a long time, he became a fixture with people that listen to our games on the radio," observed P-Rays' general manager Jim Holland in conjunction with the announcement.

There will also be a change in 2014 with the Princeton radio broadcast schedule as the team will return to broadcasting only the away games. Listeners will be able to follow the team's road contests on local radio stations WAEY 103.3 FM and WAEY 1490 AM as well as listening on-line at www.princetonrays.net.

Cooper succeeds Garry Griffith, who handled the Princeton Rays' radio play-by-play duties in 2013. Holland commented that Griffith did a great job and that the P-Rays' family wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
