KW Titans News Release
The Kitchener-Waterloo Titans Basketball Club is excited to announce the signing of SF/PF Akeem Ellis for the 2018-19 NBL Canada season.
Ellis (6'6", 215 lbs), is a native of Brooklyn, New York and a former standout at Coppin State (NCAA DI), where he graduated in 2012. He is entering his sixth season of professional basketball and his third in NBL Canada, after stints with Brampton (formerly the A's), and the Island Storm in 2014-15 and 2015-16, respectively.
It was in Brampton where Ellis developed a bond as a teammate of Titans Head Coach, Cavell Johnson, along with Titans PF/C Flenard Whitfield, and PG Ashton Smith.
"I'm excited to be back in Canada and reunite with my former teammates," said Ellis.
"Flen (Whitfield), Ashton (Smith), and I are like brothers, and we all have great respect and admiration for Coach Cavell (Johnson). I've heard great things about Kitchener-Waterloo, and I'm ready to do my part to help build a winning culture for the Titans and our fans."
The team's Head Coach is equally as confident that Ellis will be a great addition to the group.
"Akeem brings a winner's mentality and great energy to the team," said Johnson of the newest Titan.
"He creates a match-up problem for other teams with his ability to stretch the floor offensively, but he also guards positions one through four with tenacity."
Training Camp Update: The Titans have released Americans G/F Tyron Criswell, G/F Morgan Lewis, SF Aaron Jackson, and Canadian PF Abednego Lufile. Training camp will conclude this weekend, and the final roster will be announced on Tuesday, November 13th.
The KW Titans tip off the 2018-19 NBL Canada season at the Aud on Sunday, November 18th at 2:00PM. Season and single-game tickets can be purchased at KW Tickets at 1 (800) 265-8977 or at the Activa Box Office at the Aud.
