KW Titans Sign Canadian G Joel Friesen
The Kitchener-Waterloo Titans Basketball Club is excited to announce the signing of Canadian guard Joel Friesen for the remainder of the 2018-19 NBL Canada season.
"Joel is a proven winner in this league," said Titans Head Coach, Cavell Johnson. "He's a high level defender and 3-point threat that plays with a great passion for the game. Joel knows what it takes to contribute to a winning team, and brings that "dog" mentality on both ends of the floor every night."
Joel Friesen (6'4", 205 lbs), is a native of Abbotsford, BC, and completed his collegiate career at the University of the Fraser Valley and the University of Alberta. Since turning pro in 2015, Friesen has been a member of three consecutive NBL Canada championship teams, first with the Halifax Hurricanes in 2015-16, then with the London Lightning in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Friesen recently represented Canada as a member of the Senior Men's National Team at the FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers in September 2018.
"I really like the group that (KW) has here," said Friesen, adding, "I'm just excited to be a part of it and make this team better however I can."
A former First Team NBL Canada All-Canadian, the veteran can be relied upon to "bring energy to the team whether I'm off the court of I'm off ... I'm just trying to add value constantly."
Friesen will make his Titans debut on the road in London this coming Sunday December 9th at 2:00 PM.
Friesen's home debut will take place on Thursday December 13th at 7:00 PM as the Titans host the Sudbury Five. The team is encouraging fans to bring an unwrapped gift to fill the team's branded Nissan Titan in support of the Salvation Army.
Single-game tickets can be purchased at KW Tickets at 1-800-265-8977 or at the Activa Box Office at the Aud.
