KW Titans News Release
The Kitchener-Waterloo Titans Basketball Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of veteran PG/SG Ed Horton and Canadian SG/SF Tramar Sutherland for the 2018-19 NBL Canada season.
"As core members of our franchise over the past two years, Ed and Tramar embody the culture of grit, maturity, and professionalism that we're building in KW," shared Titans Head Coach, Cavell Johnson. "Both of them bring a level of veteran leadership and a passion for the game that are essential for the Titans to have success this season. They're hungry to win, and along with Derek and Flen, they'll always keep themselves and their teammates accountable throughout the season."
Tramar Sutherland (6'3", 205 lbs), is entering his 5th season of professional basketball, and has been a member of the KW Titans since its inaugural season in 2016-17. Known as the team's ironman, Sutherland played in all 40 regular season games in 2017-18, where he averaged a career high 13.0 PPG on 43.4% FG and 39.6% 3-PT shooting, 4.4 RPG, and 2.5 assists per game, on route to being named an NBL Canada First Team All-Canadian.
"The Titans organization has always supported and shown faith in me, and I'll continue to work on my craft every day to help the Titans get to the next level," said Sutherland. "I'm confident in Cavell's leadership and I'll continue to bring that defensive edge we need in order to win."
Ed Horton (6'3", 200 lbs), played 24 games for the Titans during the 2017-18 season, where he averaged 15.5 PPG on 47.3% FG and 87.3% FT shooting, 3.1 RPG and 3.8 assists per game.
After joining the Titans mid-season in both 2016-17 and 2017-18, Horton shared his enthusiasm about joining the team in training camp this coming season: "I'm really excited to be back in KW, from the jump this time. As a vet that needs to take on a leadership role, it's crucial to be in that locker room from the very beginning in order to set the tone and guide our younger players through any adversity that may come our way. Cavell and the management team have expressed great trust in me, and I'll do everything I can to help guide our group to a successful season," said Horton.
KW Titans tip off the 2018-19 NBL Canada season at the Aud in mid-November. Bowl season tickets are on sale, with a 10% discount until August 31st, 2018. Tickets can be purchased at KW Tickets at 1-800-265-8977 or at the Activa Box Office at the Aud.
