Krispy Kreme Unveils Chicago Rush Playoff Donut

July 29, 2002 â Talk about the sweet taste of victory. To honor the success of the Arena Football League's 2002 Central Division champions, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has unveiled a special edition Chicago Rush Playoff Doughnut.
The 2002 Central Division champion Chicago Rush finished the season with a 9-5 record and a bye in the first-round of the AFL playoffs. The Rush will host an AFL quarterfinal playoff game against the Dallas Desperados Monday, August 5, at Allstate Arena. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The doughnut, which features delicious chocolate icing topped with sprinkles of the team's blue and white colors, is currently on sale at Krispy Kreme's Rosemont location adjacent to the Allstate Arena at 7050 Mannheim Road.
Chicago Rush defensive specialist Cedric Walker and equipment manger Jeff Henderson will visit the Rosemont store Tuesday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to meet Rush fans and help the staff make the Chicago Rush Playoff Doughnuts.
In addition, fans who visit any one of Krispy Kreme's 10 Chicagoland locations and purchase a dozen doughnuts will receive a coupon good for $2 off any Chicago Rush 2002 playoff ticket.
"Krispy Kreme has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the Chicago Rush this season," said Amanda Savage, marketing coordinator of Sweet Traditions, L.L.C., area developer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. "The Chicago Rush playoff doughnut is a great way to celebrate the team's success on the field, as well as the success of our partnership off the field.
