Kissimmee Kreatures News Release
MIAMI, Fla. It seemed there was something mysterious about the Kreatures Saturday night. What baffled the Miami Morays was even more thought provoking as Kissimmee built a 30-14 halftime lead before the South Beach bunch came back for a 48-43 National Indoor football League win.
Under interim head coach David Benson, the Kissimmee Kreatures (2-8) gave a gallant display against a team they had handed their first loss to on April 16, 51-48, on a game-closing 38-yard field goal by James Panui.
There was revenge in the minds of the Morays (7-2). The 16-point first-half deficit woke the nastiness of any eels ¬â¢ sleep habits and Miami outscored their opponent, 34-13, in the second half.
The first half belonged to the Kreatures. They scored in every possible way before an announced crowd of 1,002.
Brandon Walker ran four yards for a score, Jeff Bacigalupi connected on a 32-yard field goal, Chris Parks returned a fumble recovery 43 yards and Andreal Curry ran 19 yards for a score and Kissimmee led, 24-6 at 1:40 of the 2nd quarter.
Panui, who came off the injured reserve list this past week after sustaining a major cut on his knee at Wyoming, caught a 7-yard pass from quarterback Rob Harding to complete the first half barrage.
Despite Leroy McFadden's four touchdowns that helped Miami climb back in the game, the Kreatures had one more ounce of blood to give the game.
Backup quarterback Rick Pyle, out of Eastern Michigan, came in for Harding and connected with TJ Simmons for touchdowns of six and five yards, giving Kissimmee a 43-42 lead with 1:24 left in the game.
The Morays had the last score with quarterback Derrick Vickers hitting Kevin Jackson for 10 yards with 46 seconds remaining in the game.
Walker finished with 13 rushes for 60 yards and one touchdown and Curry ran five times for 33 yards and a score.
Harding went nine of 16 with three interceptions and a TD and Pyle was 11 of 21 an INT and two TDs.
Panui had nine catches for 65 yards and Simmons seven for 34.
The Kreatures waste no time in getting back on the Kreaturemobile and head to Daytona Beach for a meeting with the Hawgs (6-3) on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ocean Center.
