Kraig Chiles Wins Third Consecutive PASL MVP
March 5, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
San Diego Sockers News Release
On the heels of another record setting campaign, San Diego Sockers forward Kraig Chiles was named Professional Arena Soccer League MVP for the third consecutive season in a vote of league executives and coaches. Chiles received more than twice as many votes as the second place finisher, Dallas Sidekicks goalkeeper Sagu. Chiles (Poway High, SDSU) set new single-season records for goals (56) and points (72) as the Sockers finished 2012-13 with the best regular season record in the PASL (15-1) for the fourth consecutive year.
"I think my learning curve from an outdoor player to a true indoor player is over," said Chiles, who has scored 163 goals in four seasons for the Sockers, the most goals in PASL history, "It was an extremely successful season personally but I'd trade it right now for a national title."
Chiles was joined on the all-PASL first team by Sockers midfielder Brian Farber, who set personal Sockers bests with 20 assists and 46 points. Team captain Aaron Susi, who had a career-best 32 assists and 51 points, won second-team all-PASL forward honors, finishing behind only his MVP teammate.
"It's an honor with all of the talented guys in this league to be selected," said Farber, who is second behind Chiles (215) on the all-time PASL points list with 200 career regular season points, "I go out each game trying to prove myself and I appreciate voters recognizing that."
The Sockers continue the battle for their fourth straight PASL title and the Ron Newman Cup on Sunday when they host the Las Vegas Legends in the semi-finals. Tickets are available for a scheduled 6:35pm kickoff at (866) 799-GOAL or online via TicketMaster at sdsockers.com.
