Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX- Laredo Bucks second-year All-Star center Chris Korchinski has been invited to training camp by the AHL's San Antonio Rampage this week. Korchinski arrived in Laredo last week, and then reported to the Rampage's AT&T Center Sunday for the first day of camp. The Rampage start two-a-day practices Tuesday, and will play a pre-season game at the LEC this Friday against the Houston Aeros.

"I'm looking forward to getting out on the ice again", Korchinski said, "hopefully I have a good camp, we'll see what happens up there (San Antonio)".

"This is a great opportunity for Chris to show his talent as a promising NHL player", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski. "He is very deserving of this opportunity."

Korchinski, who played in two games for the Rampage last season, had a very successful rookie campagin with the Bucks last year. The Rama, Saskachawan native finished fourth on the team in scoring, with 24 goals, 29 assists, for 53 points, including his six game-winning goals (second on the team). Korchinksi also performed well on special teams for Laredo, netting 10 power-play goals, with 13 power-play assists, and one short-handed goal in 58 regular-season games played.

"Being in an AHL camp with them will be a good chance to see what Chris can do against good, quality players" Ruskowski said. "I don't know how many guys they have in camp there, but Chris is talented and should perform well".

Last season Korchinksi carried over his regular-season success to the playoffs. He scored nine goals, with eight assists, for 17 points, including the four game-winning goals. On special teams he fired in one power-play goal, with three power-play assists, and one short-handed goal.

Korchinkski made a splash in Laredo last season, which included six regular-season game-winning goals, putting him in fifth-place for game-winning goals in a single-season in Bucks History. He didn't stop there. Korchinski added four game-winning playoff goals, including the 5-4 double-over-time game- winning power-play goal over Corpus Christi, in game one of the Bucks second round playoff series.

In 10 of his first 12 games with the Bucks last year, Korchinksi scored at least one point, in five of those games he scored at least two points. Korchinski scored at least one point in 35 of the 58 regular season games he played in last year. Out of the 20 playoff games he played in last season, Korchinski scored at least one point in 11 of them.

"When the Rampage play here on Friday I'd love to see Chris in that game, I'm sure our fans would to", Ruskowski continued. "It's already an advantage for us with him getting on the ice a bit earlier than usual. If he has a good camp with the Rampage I wouldn't be surprised if he got called to play some games with them this season."
