Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets completed week 25 gaining four points in three games played to improve to 44-21-1-3 for 92 points and continue to maintain second place in the IHL with two weeks remaining in 2009-10. The Komets trail first-place Muskegon (48-18-1-3) by eight points with seven games remaining and hold a four-point cushion over third-place Port Huron (42-24-0-4). The magic number that will keep the Komets from winning their fourth straight regular season crown is seven. Any combination of points gained by Muskegon and points lost by Fort Wayne equaling seven will give the Lumberjacks the title (Port Huron has been eliminated from the race for the Huber Trophy).
The magic number for the Komets to clinch second place and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs is nine. Any combination of points won by Fort Wayne and lost by Port Huron equaling nine will guarantee the Komets at least a second-place finish.
