GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings have announced the re-signing of defenseman Sergei Kolosov to a one-year contract.
The 24-year-old Kolosov was Detroit's third selection (151st overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He spent each of the last two seasons in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, contributing eight points (2-6-8) and 29 penalty minutes in 66 games in 2009-10, after posting 11 points (4-7-11) and 36 PIM in 70 games during the 2008-09 campaign.
Kolosov also played for his native Belarus twice last season, during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver and the 2010 IIHF World Championship in Germany. One of just four players in franchise history to participate in the Olympics as an active Griffin, he saw action in all four games for the ninth-place Belarusian squad, going scoreless.
