Missouri goaltender Tim Knudsen made 29 saves, including 15 in the third period to backstop the River Otters to a 2-1 win over the Columbus Stars at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.
River Otter's forward Joe Ritson scored the game winner at the 8:33 mark of the third period on one of Missouri's only three shots in the stanza. Ritson was assisted by Charlie Blyth and Chris Bell. Columbus could not score despite outshooting their hosts 15-3.
Columbus (12-7-4) got on the board first when Steve Rodberg tipped home a Gary Zinck slapper at 14:57 of the opening period. For Rodberg it was his fourth goal of the year, Evan Cheverie picked up his team leading 18th assist on the play.
Missouri tied the game in the second as Ryan Gillis notched a power play goal on assists from Jesse Hereema and Forrest Gore at the 4:41 mark.
Stars face a four-game week with home dates Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Stars welcome the Quad City Mallards Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to the Ohio Expo Center. Saturday Columbus pays a return visit to Missouri to face the River Otters.
