Knoxville Thunderbolts News Release

Knoxville, TN. The ABA Knoxville Thunderbolts defeated the Tri-City Racers on Sunday afternoon by the score of 108-95 in a very competitive game at Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville. Thunderbolts high scorers were Scotty Williams with 23 and Gus Chase with 21. The Bolts did their famous Alley Oop play late in the fourth period when Braun Dabbs passed the ball to Dane Bradshaw, who passed it on to Michael "Moogie" Blue, who dunked the ball as he seemed to defy gravity, suspended in mid-air above the basket.

Bradshaw had 6 asssts and Kevin McDonald led in rebounds and steals with 11 and 4 respectively. Tri-City was led by John Higgins, a former Vol, with 20 points and Delante Gray had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Former Vol and Tri-City Racer Eddie DeBro suffered a knee injury with seven minutes left in the fourth period and had to be helped off the court. Reports say that he will be ok.

At halftime, former Lady Vol DeeDee Trotter was bested in a free throw contest by Jimmy Duncan's son, Zane. The Thunderbolts are now set to host the Beijing Aoshen Olympian on Monday, February 2nd as part of a three game swing to the midwest by the powerful Chinese team. "This will be a very special game," stated team co-owner Doc Glisson. "The Olympians are a very good team and we are very proud that they have agreed to come to Knoxville to play."
