Knoxville NightHawks News Release

Knoxville, TN- Despite the lead going back and forth all night, the Nighthawks fall 74-64 to first place Panthers on the road in Albany.

Tonight's meeting between Albany (9-1) and Knoxville (1-9) was the second and last time the two will meet this season. After hosting the Panthers back in April, the Nighthawks were ready for a rematch to prove how much they have improved since that 59-10 loss.

The Nighthawks started off the scoring contest early with a 27 yard field goal by Kicker Alex Walls. The Panthers quickly responded with a 10 yard touchdown by Wide Receiver Clenton Rafe to take a 7-3 lead with 8:21 left in the first quarter.

For the remaining of the first quarter, the lead continued to switch between the two teams with Knoxville leading 25-21 going into the second quarter.

With 11:23 left in the second quarter, Panthers Quarterback Cecil Lester throws a 12 yard pass to Rafe to once again take the lead 27-26 over the Hawks. Nighthawks Walls kicks a field goal with 1:53 remaining in the half to push them ahead 36-33.

The second half was no different than the first with constant possession and lead changes. Even though they lost by ten points, Knoxville showed that they have not given up and are preparing for next season.

The Nighthawks will be back at home for their last home game this season on Saturday, June 9th at 7pm. K-Love Radio will be the presenting sponsor of Fellowship Night with $6 discounted tickets for church groups of 20 or more people. Also $1 hot dogs & $1 sodas will be available at the concession stand! All children 12 and under will receive free admission with a regular priced paying adult ticket.
