Knights Rally Falls Short

FORT MILL, S.C. - June 3, 2009 - The Charlotte Knights lost 6-4 to the visiting Columbus Clippers and then lost their top prospect. Gordon Beckham the top prospect in the White Sox organization had his contract purchased by the White Sox following the game.

Beckham hit safely in all 7 games he played for the Knights, leaving with a 3 for 5 performance with a pair of doubles. Beckham hit .464 (13-28) with 6 doubles and 3 RBI's with Knights. The White Sox designated infielder Wilson Betemit for assignment.

As far as the game was concerned, the Knights fell behind the Clippers early as they scored 4 runs over the first two innings. The Knights did manage to get a two runs in the 4th inning and including one off an RBI triple form Eider Torres.

The Knights and Clippers continue their series Thursday night at 7:15 PM. The Knights will start RHP Jack Egbert (3-0, 5.88 ERA), Columbus will start RHP Kirk Saarloos (3-6, 5.23 ERA).
