Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
TAMPA, Fla. - The Major Indoor Soccer League honored the top performers from the 2012-13 regular season today, naming the All-MISL First and Second Teams as well as the All-Rookie Team. Two members of Syracuse Silver Knights, Neto and Nelson Santana, earned All-MISL First and Second Team honors, respectively.
Neto finished his inaugural season with Syracuse tied for second in the league in goals with 34, two of which were three-pointers. The Goiás, Brazil native also finished tied for third in points with 78. His performance earned him a spot on the All-MISL First Team, along with Rochester forwards Doug Miller and Mauricio Salles, defenders Leo Gibson (Missouri) and Mike Lookingland (Baltimore), and goalkeeper Nick Vorberg (Milwaukee).
Santana earned all-league honors for the second straight campaign. This season, he led the Silver Knights with 21 assists, tied for fourth-most in the MISL. Santana also contributed 11 goals while playing heavy minutes on the team's top defensive pairing. Baltimore's Pat Healey was honored alongside Santana at defense on the All-MISL Second Team. Vahid Assadpour (Missouri), Chile Farias (Chicago), and Luan Oliveira (Milwaukee) comprised the second-team forwards, and Chicago's Jeff Richey earned second-team goalkeeper honors.
Six MISL clubs are represented in the teams, with the Baltimore Blast and Rochester Lancers leading the way with four selections each. The Milwaukee Wave and Chicago Soul each had three players honored, while the Syracuse Silver Knights and Missouri Comets had two each.
The All-MISL and All-Rookie teams were selected through a vote by MISL team management and select media members.
