Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights of the MISL are looking to begin a strong final push of the season as they head to Rochester to face the Lancers this Saturday, January 12, at Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial at 7 p.m.

After a difficult start to 2013, Tommy Tanner's side is poised to make a run through the final ten games of the regular season schedule and close on the 2.5 games than stand between them and the final playoff spot.

Syracuse is coming off one of its most difficult losses of the season last Saturday, as they squandered a third quarter 8-2 lead and fell to the two-time defending champion Milwaukee Wave.

Despite competing neck-and-neck with the best teams the MISL has to offer, the Silver Knights head to Rochester in search of their first win of 2013.

Looking to add depth and speed to spark the late-season push, the Knights' front office signed 18-year-old Antonio Manfut, a graduate of LeBron James' St. Vincent - St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio this week. Manfut, who has impressed "King James" in person with his skill and quickness, was the team MVP and leading scorer of St. Vincent - St. Mary in both his junior and senior year. He joins the Knights after captaining the Cleveland White Caps club team to an Ohio State Cup championship in 2012, after-which he journeyed to Mexico to train with C.F. Pachucha, a legendary side in the top division of Mexican soccer. Antonio has been training with the Silver Knights since October 2012.

"Antonio to me is an absolute game changer. His future is extremely bright in the MISL where I believe he is going to be a star for many years. His speed and ability to take players on one vs.one is like no other player I've seen since we've entered the league. He will be with out a doubt be one of the most exciting players MISL fans have ever witnessed," said Syracuse head coach, Tommy Tanner.

The Silver Knights have partnered again with Caz Limo to bring a fan bus to Rochester to help cheer the team to Victory. The team expects close to 100 Syracuse fans to make the trip down the thruway to support their beloved Knights in the teams greatest rivalry match. Tickets for the bus and game are only $25 through the Silver Knights office. Trip tickets can still be purchased up until 2:00pm on Saturday by calling 315-303-7261.

After Saturday's voyage to Rochester, the Knights return home next Friday, January 18, to take on the first-place Baltimore Blast at 7:30 p.m. Both teams will return to The Oncenter War Memorial Arena for a rematch on Sunday, January 20, at 1:30 p.m. The team is offering a "Blast Pack" ticket special, $25 for one ticket to each game or two tickets to one game.
