Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. - The Macon Knights will be presenting the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia with a check for over $1,000 dollars Tuesday, August 23, at 9:30 am, the presentation will take place at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia located at 1160 Forsyth Street in downtown Macon.

This past season the Knights teamed up with Mr. Payroll and McDonald's Restaurants for a promotion during halftime called "Fling-a-Football". Fans would purchase mini footballs for one dollar each, with some of the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House, and during halftime they would "fling" their footballs onto the field and try to land it either on a banner or in a helmet at mid-field. If your football landed in the helmet you received $200 dollars from Mr. Payroll, and if your football landed on the McDonald's banner you would receive a voucher for food at participating local McDonald's Restaurants. "The Knights Organization is proud to support local charities like the Ronald McDonald House, whose mission is to help families in need not only from Middle Georgia, but from across the state and country", said Ron Armour, Macon Knights Vice President and Director of Marketing.

About Ronald McDonald House

A Ronald McDonald House® is a temporary home-away-from-home where the families of children being treated for serious illnesses or critical injuries reside while the child receives treatment at a nearby hospital. It is also a place where children who are receiving outpatient treatment are able to spend time with their families in a warm and cheerful environment.

At a Ronald McDonald House, the families have a place to rest, away from the atmosphere of a hospital, where they can attempt to lead "normal" lives. Parents are also able to share their worries and concerns with other parents who can empathetically understand the emotional strain placed upon them and who can offer each other support during times of crisis.

About the Macon Knights

The Macon Knights have just finished their fifth season in the af2. In 2005, the Knights finished the regular season 8-8 and made the playoffs for the fourth time in their five-year history. The Knights season started off slow going 2-5 until a coaching change promoted defensive coordinator, Derek Stingley, to Head Coach. After this change the Knights finished the season going 6-3 and making it to the playoffs after missing them for the first time in team history in 2004. The Knights being the number six seed in the playoffs hosted the number three seed Louisville Fire in the first round of the playoffs, but with a heartbreaking one point loss, the Knights Fifth Anniversary Season came to a close.

The Knights are looking forward to more exciting Arena Football action as the 2006 season approaches! Tickets for the 2006 season are on sale now, reserve yours by visiting the Macon Knights Ticket Office at Christ Chapel @ SportsTowne, or by calling (478) 314-3000.
