Corvallis Knights News Release
Corvallis, Ore. - Another powerful arm from the 2021 championship pitching staff will return to the Corvallis Knights for the 2022 season.
The newest Knight is right-hander Nathan DeSchryver, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder from Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge, Wash. The Silverdale, Wash., native is redshirting as a true freshman at Gonzaga University.
DeSchryver was 1-1, 2.57 in three starts and 12 total games for the Knights in 2021, with 23 strikeouts and just 11 hits allowed in 21 innings. He booked a scoreless inning and struck out the side in his lone playoff appearance, against Redfield.
He will join fellow returnees lefty Ethan Ross (San Jose State) and righties Sean Weise (George Fox), Kaden Segel (Linn-Benton), Chase Walter (Cal Poly), Kaleb Kantola and Sam Stuhr (Oregon State) on second-year pitching coach Beau Kearns's 2022 staff.
DeSchryver was ranked among the top 100 prep players in Washington by MaxPreps following his senior season at Bainbridge High (2021). He also earned his Associate in Arts (AA) degree from Olympic College in nearby Bremerton while in high school under the state's Running Start program.
The Knights begin the 2022 season on May 26 with their annual Science, Engineering & Art Day, presented by Paventy & Brown Orthodontics, at Goss Stadium against the NW Star Nighthawks. Their WCL opener is June 3 at Yakima Valley; their WCL home opener is June 17 vs. Yakima Valley.
