Knighthawks trade Chris McKay; activate Marshall Abrams

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team has traded defenseman Chris McKay to Arizona in exchange for the Sting's second-round pick in the 2006 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. The trade is pending league approval.

The Knighthawks selected McKay with their first-round pick (fifth overall) in the 2004 NLL Dispersal Draft. The product of the Victoria Shamrocks (WLA) was the first-round pick (seventh overall) of the Vancouver Ravens' in this year's NLL Entry Draft. In 2004, he recorded 12 goals and nine assists in 24 games as Victoria won the Western Lacrosse Association title and advanced to the Mann Cup Finals. In 2003, he won the Mann Cup with the Shamrocks. McKay played his college lacrosse at Butler University.

In a related move, Rochester activated defenseman Marshall Abrams from the injured reserve list. Abrams enters his fourth season as a Knighthawk. He played in five games in 2003-04, before missing the remainder of the season with an ACL injury. The Syracuse University product also plays for the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse.

Rochester (0-1) has a week off and will remain home to host the Arizona Sting on Saturday, January 15th for a 7:35 p.m. contest at The Blue Cross Arena. The game is the first trip to the Flower City for the Sting. The game will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC and knighthawks.net. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Knighthawks T-shirt from Chase-Pitkin.
