Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks lacrosse team will hold their Fourth Annual "Tip-A-Knighthawk" charity event on Tuesday, April 20th. Knighthawks players Joe Walters and John Grant will join mascots and dance teams members to collect tips to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association.
The event is scheduled from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bugaboo Creek Steak House at 935 Jefferson Road in Henrietta. Bugaboo's mascot, Moxie the Moose; Rochester Americans mascot, The Moose; and the Amerks and Knighthawks mascot, R. Thunder, will also be on-hand.
"It is our honor to be hosting this event for the fourth consecutive year. It is a good way of giving back to our community and for supporting a great cause," said Bugaboo Creek Steak House General Manager Chris Keane. "It is always a good time for all involved and a great pleasure to team up with our local Amerks and Knighthawks, and their dance team the Knightingales."
The festivities will also include a raffle featuring donations from the Amerks, Knighthawks, Rochester Red Wings, Rochester Rhinos, and teams in the National Lacrosse League and American Hockey League. Fans can also challenge Grant and Walters to games on the Wii video game system for a minimal donation to CURE. The full lineup of Knighthawks players and Amerks alumni will be announced in the coming weeks.
"The event has become one of the focal points of the season for the Knighthawks players and staff," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "'Tip-A-Knighthawk' gets bigger and better every season and goes to a great charity with a noble mission."
CURE Childhood Cancer Association is dedicated to improving the lives of families coping with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders by providing emotional, educational and financial assistance.
"We are pleased to partner with the Knighthawks for the fourth year in a row. Their passion and enthusiasm to support CURE is second only to their passion on the field," said CURE Childhood Cancer Association Executive Director Brian Wirth. "We are grateful for all their ongoing support."
The event in April is the second of two fundraising initiatives this season between the Knighthawks and CURE Childhood Cancer Association. The Knighthawks raised $2,455 in their Third Annual Teddy Bear Auction on February 27th.
