Knighthawks Open 20th Season on Home Turf
September 3, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
The Rochester Knighthawks quest to become the first team in league history to win three straight National Lacrosse League titles will begin Saturday, December 28th at The Blue Cross Arena.
The back-to-back champs will host the Minnesota Swarm to kick off the team's historic 20th season. The contest is the first of three straight home games to usher in the 2014 campaign. The game against the Swarm is a rematch of the 2013 East Division Finals, which the Knighthawks won 12-10 to return to the Champion's Cup Finals. Prior to the game, Rochester will raise its fourth NLL Championship banner.
The 2014 season includes 18 games -- nine home and nine road contests. For the second straight season, Rochester will play the rival Buffalo Bandits four times. Buffalo will come to the Flower City on Saturday, February 8th and Saturday, April 19th. The series also includes the regular season finale at the First Niagara Center on Saturday, April 26th. Last season, Rochester edged Buffalo 10-9 to secure a playoff berth en route to the team's first back-to-back championships.
The home schedule also includes a rematch of the 2013 NLL title game on Saturday, April 12th as the Vancouver Stealth visit Rochester. The Knighthawks edged the Stealth 11-10 to win the Champion's Cup.
The Knighthawks will play their lone home-and-home series of the season against the Minnesota Swarm. On Friday, April 4th, the K-Hawks will travel to the Twin Cities to play the Swarm. The following night, Rochester hosts Minnesota at The Blue Cross Arena.
One of Rochester's toughest stretches keeps them inside the East Division for back-to-back road games. Rochester will travel to play the Toronto Rock on Saturday, March 15th and then visit the Philadelphia Wings on Sunday, March 16th.
To experience all the action, season tickets are currently on sale by calling (585) 454-4295 (HAWK) or by going online to www.knighthawks.com.
