September 3, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced its 2014 regular season schedule. The Swarm will open their 10th season of professional box lacrosse in the NLL on the road against the defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 28.

The Swarm will make their home debut at The Hive on Sunday, Jan. 19 for a 2 p.m. matchup against the Philadelphia Wings at Xcel Energy Center. 2014 Swarm Season Tickets start as low as $19 per game and can be purchased by calling 1-888-667-9276 or visiting www.mnswarm.com .

Minnesota has averaged close to 10,000 fans per game at The Hive since the franchise's inaugural season back in 2005. Swarm fans have helped make The Hive one of the toughest arenas to play in for visiting NLL teams as Minnesota has posted a league-best 16-8 record at home since 2011.

The Swarm enters the 2014 season with a young and potent roster that is coming off its second straight NLL Division Finals appearance. The Swarm will compete in an additional two games this year, as the NLL approved a newly formatted 18-game regular season schedule this summer.

"We're excited to celebrate our 10th anniversary of professional box lacrosse in Minnesota this season," Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta said. "We have a talented squad that is ready to compete for the Champion's Cup in 2014 and will only improve with our four first-round picks in September's NLL Entry Draft. With the addition of an extra home game this season, Swarm fans are in store for a special season at The Hive."

By opponent, the Swarm's 18-game schedule breaks down as follows: Buffalo (Home: March 23, April 12; Away: March 8 3 total), Calgary (Home: Feb. 8; Away: March 29 2 total), Colorado (Home: April 19; Away: Feb. 1 2 total), Edmonton (Home: Feb. 15 1 total), Philadelphia (Home: Jan. 19; Away: Jan. 18, Feb. 23 3 total), Rochester (Home: April 4; Away: Dec. 28, April 5 3 total), Toronto (Home: March 16, April 26; Away: Feb. 22 3 total), and Vancouver (Away: Jan. 11 1 total).

By day, the schedule breaks down as follows: Saturday (13), Sunday (4) and Friday (1).

Minnesota will also face three back-to-backs this season: Jan. 18-19 (@PHI, PHI); Feb. 22-23 (@TOR, @PHI); April 4-5 (ROC, @ROC).

The Swarm will get the opportunity to strengthen their roster with a league-high four first-round picks in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft, which will be held on Monday, Sept. 16. Minnesota holds the first two overall selections as well as picks Nos. 5 and 7 in the first-round. The Swarm also held four first-round picks in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft.
