
Knighthawks Fall to Rival Rock

The Rochester Knighthawks got a 42-save effort from Matt Vinc, but fell 13-7 to the East Division rival Toronto Rock 13-7 tonight at The Blue Cross Arena.
The loss ended the Knighthawks' three-game home winning streak and ended the Rock's three-game losing streak. The victory also extended Toronto's winning streak over Rochester to eight games.� Rochester dropped to 5-6 with the loss and into a second-place tie in the East with the Toronto Rock (5-6). The Rock, however, own the tiebreaker after completing the 3-0 sweep of the 'Hawks.
Rochester got four points (2+2) from Cody Jamieson and three from Jarrett Davis (2+1). Davis scored while on his side at 10:06 of the first quarter as the Knighthawks carried a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
Yet, the second would belong to the Rock who outscored Rochester 5-0 as part of an 8-0 run. Brendan Thenhaus and Garrett Billings each had two, while Colin Doyle added the first of three. Billings continued to have success against the Knighthawks with eight points (2+6) to give him 24 in three games against Rochester this season. Doyle had seven points (3+4) to become the Rock's all-time assist leader and stand as only the second man in NLL history to reach 700 assists.
Goalie Nick Rose, who was acquired by the Rock this week, made 28 saves in his first professional start. He held Rochester scoreless over a 29:56 stretch from the end of the first quarter to well into the third. Davis broke the drought at 10:02 of the third. Both teams put up four goals apiece in the final frame, which included a scrap between rookie Stephen Keogh and Toronto's Stephen Hoar.
The Knighthawks will host the West-Division leading Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, March 31st at 1:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 3,000 fans will receive Knighthawks light-up keychains. After the game, the team will host Kids Fest at Total Sports Experience in Gates, starting at 4:00 p.m. Fans can meet the players, dance team and the mascot, R. Thunder. The event also features inflatables, laser tag, face painters and air brush tattoos from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
