Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, November 22)... The Rochester Knighthawks are back in town this weekend for two days filled with practices, bears and brunch with the second week of Training Camp set for Saturday, November 26th to Sunday, November 27th.
On Saturday, the team will practice from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Total Sports Experience. On Sunday, the Knighthawks will hit the turf from 9:00 to noon. Both practices at the facility at 880 Elmgrove Road are free and open to the public. Last weekend was a chance for players to get reacquainted with their teammates.
"It was a good experience and good to get out here and get into the swing of lacrosse with this group," said Alex "Kedoh" Hill, who was acquired from Edmonton in the offseason. "I am pretty happy and my family is happy I get to move closer to home."
Part of the Training Camp experience for the Knighthawks has always included community outreach. This weekend is no different, as the Knighthawks continue their community appearance schedule with two events.
The first stop will take the players to Build-A-Bear Workshopé at Eastview Mall on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The team will build bears to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association, which will be available via an online auction in March. The Knighthawks have a long history of supporting CURE, which strives to improve the lives of families coping with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders by providing emotional, educational and financial assistance.
The players get a chance to show their personalities through the building process. Last year, Cody Jamieson wanted to make a special bear for a special girl and the result was named Tapenga.
On Sunday, fans can meet the 2012 players, staff and coaches, while dining at the Stock Exchange Restaurant on the first floor of the First Federal Plaza. The Knighthawks, in conjunction with the Knighthawks Krew, will hold "Brunch with the Knighthawks" from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Stock Exchange Restaurant has been a proud partner of the Knighthawks since the 2010 season and has hosted numerous team functions, including the Knighthawks official Draft Party for the past three seasons.
The Knighthawks will return to Rochester three weeks to host a home preseason game against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. Tickets for the game are FREE and available online at Knighthawks.net. Fans must have a ticket to enter the game. For more information or to purchase season tickets, call (585) 454-HAWK (4295).
The game will be the first chance the fans get to see the players in a game situation after an offseason that included the bolstering of the lineup through the draft and offseason trades.
"A lot of guys have played together and a lot guys coming in are familiar with each other," said 20-year pro Chris Driscoll about the new faces on the roster. "We have made some changes on the backend and on the frontend too. I am really looking forward to the season."
