Rochester Knighthawks News Release
For the third time in two weeks, the Rochester Knighthawks will play the New England Black Wolves. Tonight, Rochester will host the Black Wolves in the second game of a home-and-home series, which kicked off last night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The season series is tied at one win apiece, with each team winning their home contest. Rochester defeated New England 17-13 on March 12th. Rochester (6-6) can move back into a second-place tie with New England (6-4) with a victory tonight.
Friday Night Recap: Last night, the Rochester Knighthawks stormed back in the fourth quarter, but fell just short, 16-13, to the Black Wolves. In the final frame, Rochester caught fire and scored six goals, including three in the final two minutes. Stephen Keogh put up impressive numbers yet again with a team-high seven-point night (5+2). He extended his multiple-goal scoring streak to six games. Joe Walters had four goals and tacked on an assist for five points. Cody Jamieson (1+5), Joe Resetarits (1+3), Brad Self (1+3), and Quinn Powless (1+0) each scored single goals, while Dan Dawson finished the game with a team-high five assists.
Self hits Two Milestones: On Friday, Brad Self reached a pair of personal milestones as he picked up his 200th career point on a goal by Cody Jamieson. He earned his 100th point as a Knighthawk, later in the second quarter, on Stephen Keogh's third goal of the game.
Jamieson Two Away from 500: After a six-point effort in Connecticut last night, Cody Jamieson is just two points shy of becoming only the third Knighthawk to reach 500 career points. He trails just Shawn Williams and John Grant Jr. on the team's all-time points list.
Keogh's Sensational Six Games: Stephen Keogh has scored 20 of his 25 goals this season in the last six games. In two games against New England this month, Keogh has netted 11 goals and chipped in four assists for 15 points.
Rochester's Ironman: Dan Dawson is closing in on Shawn Williams' NLL Ironman record of 230 consecutive games played. He needs just four games to surpass the former Knighthawk and Bandit. Dawson is set to break the record on April 23rd, when Rochester hosts Buffalo. The 15-year pro began his streak back on March 9, 2002 when he played for the Columbus Landsharks.
Broadcast Details: The game this week will be broadcast on 107.3 The Bull. Fans can listen to the contest on their mobile devices and computers by downloading the iHeartRadio app at iHeartRadio.com. The game will also be carried live on FOX Sports GO.
Next Game: After a bye weekend, the Knighthawks will return to action on Saturday, March 9th when they travel to play the rival Buffalo Bandits. The game at the First Niagara Center is a 7:30 p.m. start.
Next Home Game: Rochester will kick off a three-game homestand on Saturday, April 16th when it hosts the Georgia Swarm at 7:30 p.m. That night, the Knighthawks will hold their annual Military Appreciation Night. The Knighthawks will wear special military-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off with the net proceeds going to benefit the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC). The Knighthawks will also donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of special military-themed T-shirts to the VOC.
Milestone Watch:
- Sid Smith will pass Hall of Famer Pat Cougevan for ninth place on the team's all-time games played list tonight.
- Dan Dawson needs just one assist to take over sole possession of sixth place on the team's all-time list. He is currently tied with Cory Bomberry with 218 assists.
- Mike Hasen is 4 games shy of reaching 100 in his coaching career.
