Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and President Dan Carey announced today that the team has re-signed team captain Dan Coates and signed defensemen Luc Magnan and Brent Noseworthy.

Coates returns for his sixth season with the Knighthawks and fourth as captain. In 62 games, he scooped up 343 loose balls, caused 56 turnovers, blocked 49 shots, and scored 35 points (three goals). He ranks third in franchise history for caused turnovers and blocked shots and ranks fifth in loose-ball recoveries.

Carey also locked up two players selected Tuesday in the National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft. Magnan agreed to a one-year deal, while Noseworthy signed a three-year contract.

The Knighthawks selected Magnan with the 39th overall pick in Tuesday's National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft. The Pine Falls, Manitoba, native enters his 11th year in the NLL after earning league Teammate of the Year honors. The 34-year-old returns to Rochester, where he played three seasons for the original Knighthawks (2016-19).

During his time in Rochester, he had his finest seasons in 2018 and 2019. Magnan tallied 18 points and scooped up 83 loose-ball recoveries in 2018, helping Rochester advance to the NLL Finals. The next year he caused 11 turnovers and scooped up 108 loose balls while also notching seven points.

Noseworthy arrives in Rochester after being selected in the second round (15th overall) of the NLL Dispersal Draft. The Burlington, Ontario, native enters his seventh season in the NLL after appearing in 18 games last season with the Ottawa Black Bears. In his career, he has played in 91 games, posting 41 points (6+35), 513 loose-ball recoveries, 62 blocked shots, and 55 caused turnovers.

He broke into the NLL during the 2019-20 season after the Buffalo Bandits selected him 12th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft. In March of 2022, the Bandits sent him and a 2022 fourth-round pick to New York in exchange for a 2024 first-round draft pick. He spent two seasons in New York before moving with the franchise to Ottawa for the 2024-25 season.

These were the Knighthawks final signings before NLL Free Agency opened at 5:00 p.m. today.
